United States applauds Ghana’s presidential candidates for peace pact commitment
U.S hails Ghana’s commitment to peaceful elections through the 4th presidential peace pact
The United States has lauded Ghana’s presidential candidates for signing the 4th Presidential Elections Peace Pact ahead of the country’s 7 December general elections.
In a statement issued by Rolf A. Olson, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., the U.S. congratulated the candidates for demonstrating a firm commitment to peace and stability, emphasising that the will of the Ghanaian people should never be undermined by violence at any stage of the electoral process.
“The United States commends the presidential candidates for signing the Peace Pact and congratulates the National Peace Council and the Institute of Democratic Governance for their tireless stewardship of this important initiative,” Olson said.
The Peace Pact, an agreement aimed at ensuring peaceful, transparent, and credible elections, underscores Ghana’s position as a beacon of democracy in the region. The U.S. encouraged all stakeholders to work together to uphold these values.
With just days to the polls, the international community has expressed optimism that Ghana will once again set a positive example for democratic governance in Africa.
